Great reading material and very readable layout. This site validates the many happy comments it is accumulating.

I have recently read a few statements regarding this subject but you have made some pertinent points. Although I began to believe there was nothing more to discuss, it seems you have revealed this to be premature.

Stop losing the job by having a general resume! What a general resume does, is tell them how you look like all the other applicants - not how you outmatch your competition for the same position.

These days, companies need to be told the unique position title you want to apply for - but a general resume never shows that. Plus, they immediately have to find out what positively places you above the rest - but a general resume forces you to look like a clone of the other 399 general resumes they have already had dropped on them.

Adhering to the Duties-and-Responsibilities resume format, will ensure that your resume lines a garbage can! Companies don't care anymore about what you had to do at past organizations. Instead, they need to be shown what actual contributions you have made.

The lion's share of hiring decision-makers see the Duties-and-Responsibilities resume template, as obsolete and inferior. Instead, employers wish to discover what sets you apart from other competitors, with tangible instances of contributions you have made at prior work.

Is it smart to use a general one-size-fits-all resume, that you can use anytime, anywhere, for any occupation? The Truth: It is a very bad error! The reality: Employers are forced to sort through up to 400 resumes a day! As a result, they toss out every resume which is not intentionally targeted to the employment being hired.

In the current job market, employers expect to be told the specific job title you wish to apply for - while a general resume never shows this. Also, they instantly look to learn what positively sets you apart - and a general resume makes you look identical to the tons of general resumes they have already received.

Many years ago, people were lectured that each resume needs to have a group of point-form duties and responsibilities performed during any employment we have ever done - and the more the better. Not today! These days, organizations plan to only spend 15 seconds (maybe even less) when skimming through your resume. Don't choose the duties/responsibilities resume technique!

Current employers do not pay attention to each of the 500 plus resumes received - for a single employment offering! Instead, they will immediately discard ninety percent of them, if the resume does nothing to seize their attention.

Resume statements as for example "professional", have no value. They come across as cliche and don't put you in a positive way. Similarly for a statement like "dedicated". The right text target what you did at your previous employment and in addition how useful you could be to this prospective company.

Years and years ago, job seekers were taught that each resume needs to include a collection of point-form duties and responsibilities underneath any work position we've ever been hired for - and the bigger the list the better. Not anymore! Nowdays, hiring decision-makers are able to only take a few seconds (sometimes not even that) when glancing through your resume. Do not follow the Duties-and-Responsibilities resume technique!

As you are trying to get hired, first impressions are very important! And the absolute first impression organizations have of you - is a professional cover letter.

It used to be, resumes opened by using an Objective Statement - but no more! Nowadays, career experts all agree, this category of resume sections do nothing when assessing your job abilities. And so, don't use an Objective Statement!

Current organizations don't go through each of the 500 or higher resumes received - for a single employment offering! In actual fact, they'll gladly throw out ninety percent of them, if any resume fails to seize the reader's interest.

Following the Duties-and-Responsibilities resume template, will make sure that your resume is thrown into the garbage! Hiring decision-makers are not interested in what you did at past occupations. In actual fact, they want to hear what unique added value you have made.

Sticking to the duties/responsibilities resume template, will ensure that your resume gets dumped in the garbage! Companies no longer care what you were responsible for at past employment. In today's hiring market, they need to hear what real achievements you have made.

A surprising fact is that four of every five available jobs (especially almost all of the highest-paying jobs), are only posted inside the "hidden" job market. Thus the key to raising your pay level, is to learn about the principal reasons the best-paying employment are promoted inside this concealed job market, rather than the tiny public or online career market.

Stop losing the job posting by submitting a general resume! All a general resume does, is show how you fail like everyone else - not how you stand above your competition for the same job.
