Twitter Co-Gründer und CEO Jack Dorsey tritt zurück

Überrachende Entwicklung im Silicon Valley. Jack Dorsey ist gestern mit sofortiger Wirkung als CEO des Kurznachrichtendienstes Twitter zurückgetreten und hat seinen Posten an den bisherigen CTO Parag Agrawal übergeben. Dorsey hatte Twitter einst im Jahr 2006 gemeinsam mit Biz Stone, Evan Williams und irgendwie auch Noah Glass gegründet und diente zunächst bis 2008 als CEO. Nachdem zwischenzeitlich Williams und Dick Costolo als CEOs dienten, kehrte Dorsey 2015 in diese Rolle zurück und konnte den Aktienwert in seiner Zeit an der Spitze des Unternehmens um 85% steigern. Parallel ist Dorsey zudem auch als CEO des Zahlungsdienstleisters Square tätig, wo der Börsenwert seit 2015 gar um 1.566% stieg. In einem Statement erklärte der scheidende Twitter CEO:

"I've decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders."

Dorseys Nachfolger Parag Agrawal ist seit über zehn Jahren für Twitter tätig und hat seit 2017 die Rolle des CTO inne. Zuvor arbeitete er im Silicon Valley bereits für AT&T, Microsoft und Yahoo. Er wurde von Jack Dorsey persönlich für seine Nachfolge auserkoren. Mit ihm scheidet nun auch der letzte der Mitgründer aus dem Kurznachrichtendienst aus. Dorsey war es übrigens, der einst am 21. März 2006 mit seinem nach wie vor gültigen Twitter-Handle @jack den allerersten Tweet überhaupt mit den Worten "just setting up my twttr" abgesetzt hatte.
